Hi,
I was prescribed 200mg of daily Amisulpride over the course of 6 months, for depression. Also, 20mg of Fluoxetine, though this was discontinued 2 months ago. The mental impairments were starting to become very noticeable, so I tapered off and took my last dose of Amisulpride about 2-3 weeks ago. I'm happy to report that my depression is gone.
Now I must admit to being a casual user of recreational drugs, though none were consumed during his treatment! Trial and error have convinced me that I literally do not or hardly respond anymore to dopaminergic/serotonergic substances - almost 3 weeks after discontinuation of Amisulpride! I'm not so much concerned with the loss of my hedonistic vice. I rather fear that this could be one symptom of deep underlying changes to my brain which would affect me in my everyday life. Now I even dream of having had a chemical lobotomy!
Can someone reassure me that this is not unheard of and things will revert back to normal? Talking to my former pdoc is not an option. Numerous bad experiences have made me lose all trust (in psychiatry itself).
Thanks.
