Hi poser,
Many doctors don't want to deal with MAOI's. They either were not taught to use them in med school or do not want to bother with them. My last doctor was such, and he suggested ECT and would not consider an MAOI. IMO, Emsam, the transdermal segeline is very low risk and easy enough to trial. ECT is invasive. I feel doctors should do the least harm possible to achieve potential results.
