In reply to Anti Psychotics least likely to cause Akathisia?, posted by mogger on March 16, 2014, at 10:19:02
Zyprexa can cause akathisia, mainly at high doses. It's not common at low doses. Seroquel probably causes the least akathisia out of the commonly prescribed antipsychotics.
> I believe I am having akathisia and insomnia from Latuda (even at 40mgs and have tried 20mgs but it was not enough to keep the depression at bay) and I am looking for another AP that has a similar anti depressant effect to Latuda that will be less likely to cause akathisia? I was on Zyprexa which didn't and seems to be the only one listed on Epocrates that doesn't have akathisia as a side effect. Zyprexa was good for anxiety but not for depression and also I am not looking forward to the weight gain. Many thanks,
