Phenibute tolerance develops because repeated consumption down regulates GABA(b) receptors. Increase glutamate also leads to down regulation of GABA(b) receptors, so an inhibitor of glutamate could in theory prevent down regulation of GABA(b) receptors in the presence of phenibute. Memantine is an inhibitor of glutamate...so would combined administration of phenibute and memantine prevent tolerance of phenibute? Has anyone tried this approach?
