I am of the camp that firmly believes most of the side effects listed are not side effects. They are descriptions of what people experience during Herxheimer reactions. That is the stuff that happens when too much death inside the body happens too quickly and it can't get cleaned out fast enough and backs up like a sewer. It is in a sense sort of like poisoning. Poisoned from too much bacterial poop, pee, guts, body parts, and dead debris.
Look at the side effects closely. And then, for anyone else out there who has been through Herxheimer reactions, those side effects are clearly recognizable as Herx symptoms, not medication side effects.
It is sort of an odd way of thinking, but the worse the reaction, the better. Why is that? Because it confirms that the bug you are trying to target is getting hit very hard with the drug you chose. In other words, you guessed at the right drug and you hit a bullseye. You don't stop that med no matter what. Except for brief periods to allow the Herx to clean out, and then re-approach with a lower dose or less frequent dosing. Once the populations levels have come down, then more aggressive dosing can be done. It is not uncommon to back off to as little as 25mg mino once every 2 days.
What generally happens though is that both patient and doctor err on the side of caution and they stop the med. Patient stays sick and is still bouncing from med to med 10 years later. We all have to do what we have to do, and we all have our own journeys.
