I think stimulants are prescribed so frequently, often to children, that we forget how serious they are.They're Schedule II. They're right up there with Morphine and Dilaudid and some of the few barbiturates still produced in the US. High potential for abuse and addiction, limited therapeutic value. No refills.
Amphetamine psychosis is much more common than many people may suspect. Kids get it, adults get it, sometimes off of low-moderate therapeutic doses. Often, someone with amphetamine psychosis is hospitalized and stigmatized with further lables. Personality disorder, drug dependence, bipolar, psychotic disorder, etc. I guess that's a lot easier than saying: The drug is the problem.
Anyway, I'm glad you have enough insight to see that your drug is your problem (in this case) and do something about it before you ended up in a hospital, unemployed, psychotic, etc.
