Not enough salt + swelling?

I've heard that you have to consider your salt/sodium intake with Trileptal. None of my stupid docs have any clue about this.
I am wondering, because I hate salt and rarely get enough sodium, if that could be causing me to retain water and swell?
Sounds nuts, but does it? For some reason, Trileptal is causing me to swell, and I love Trileptal. I know it's not because I'm eating too much salt. If anything, I'm drinking too much water.
So why would I be have edema?
