In reply to loss of sense of taste, posted by Elanor Roosevelt on November 20, 2013, at 23:38:12
Elanor I lost my sense of taste which really is smell as taste is regulated by smell over l0 years ago. And was taking Cymbalta at the time. But now 9 years later still no taste and smell. Been to two taste and smell centers, and two ENT's, had MRI's of brain, sinuses, pituitary. Only explanation from all was that some virus attacked the fine tiny neurons in my nose. It's permanent for me. But if you have a polyp of the nose you might be able to have it removed and regain this as I call it now gift of taste. Is yours completely gone or partially. Since I have had lymes disease also the infection control doc thinks the biaxin xl I took for over 2 years caused it. So in short I haven't read of Cymbalta or lithium causing this? I sincerely hope you get it back though. Please let me know if you do find the cause. Also some studies are not linking Alzheimers and Parkinson's disease to loss of taste and smell. I am passionate about this topic. Phillipa
