In reply to PAXIL still relevant???, posted by marcus1968 on November 5, 2013, at 9:06:17
I think Paxil has gone out of favor because its side effects are often more troublesome than those of other SRIs. Paxil is the most potent SSRI as an inhibitor of serotonin reuptake. It is known to be responsible for birth defects. However, for some people, it is the most potent antidepressant and anti-GAD drug. Unfortunately, it often occurs that when someone discontinues Paxil, it does not work as well when it is restarted.
You could try adding Wellbutrin or Abilify to a SRI. I'm sorry to hear that Lexapro has turned foul on you. Yours is not the first report of someone experiencing anxiety after being on Lexapro for an extended period of time.
