Quick tip for urine retention/hesitation

Posted by phinxeezaDr on October 25, 2013, at 18:00:54

Urine retention/hesitation can be bad, even making you need a catheter! That happened to me on phenelzine and also with isocarboxazid (both full MAOIs) tho I wasn't catheterised a second time. it wore off eventually but was still agonising. Amitriptyline gave me hesitation too. I'm pretty sure these are anticholinergic effects. Well I found a cure! (for myself anyway). A plant supplement called Saw Palmetto. Aimed at prostate health, it really helped urine hesitation when I starting amitriptyline. But other than waiting and hoping for the side effect to go away, its the ONLY thing I've found that works for urine retention/hesitation. Not sure if it would help females being a prostate focused remedy.
Hope that helps someone
