In reply to rTMS continuation past 30 sessions, posted by Zatar on September 30, 2013, at 18:59:24
Forgot to add that I did experience increased tinnitus on the left side almost certainly due to rTMS. The tinnitus volume stabilized after the first week or so, so I'm not concerned about that doing additional sessions.
It's interesting that one of the newer acoustic coordinated reset neuromodulation therapy for tinnitus says that "subjective tinnitus is associated with pathologic enhanced neuronal synchronization". Wonder if the rTMS contributed in any way via this mechanism. I did wear ear plugs during therapy.
I also had severe pain at the site of treatment and behind the left eye (sort of like an ocular migraine) for the first week. The eye pain subsided and the pain at the treatment site decreased to tolerable levels. My daughter could not tolerate even the first session, unfortunately. Ahhhhhh.....nothing comes free. But given my super sensitivity to medication side effects, toughing it out has given me some benefits. Not falling asleep at the drop of a hat is worth it alone. Much less irritable also, my husband opines. Priceless...
