It's likely that the FDA will approve a new insomnia drug called Suvorexant later this year or in early 2014. It has a completely different mechanism of action than benzos or Ambien or anything else. Suvorexant is an orexin receptor antagonist, so basically what it does is give you narcolepsy for seven or so hours.
Have you ever tried cognitive behaviorial therapy for your insomnia? Also, neurofeedback can be a very effective treatment for depression and anxiety and insomnia.
