I see my pdoc later next week. She gave me samples of Geodon, since I've taken it in the past and basically said I could start with 20mg and experiment.
Very interesting! I found 20mg to 60mg helped me sleep, but made me hypomanic the next day. When I tried taking 20mg in the morning to curb the hypomania, I was unable to function.
Obviously, I have not been depressed.
But when on 2 occasions I took 80mg with dinner, I slept good and was stable the whole next day! I was shocked to wake up and feel stable and even able to enjoy a morning cup of coffee without hypomania. 80mg makes me feel normal - like the chemicals in my brain are right where they're supposed to be.
In the past it was imperative I take Trileptal to make me stable on 40mg of Geodon - now I understand why, 40mg did nothing for the cycling!
With 80mg of Geodon I didn't have to supplement with Trileptal, which is great, because Trileptal really effects my vision.
So, even though I do not have psychosis or schizophrenia, just MDD, anxiety and mixed BPII, the 80mg of Geodon is the magic number!
***I thought when you hit 80mg of Geodon it's more for psychosis or schiz?***
Any input? We'll see how the next week goes on 80mg.
I still take 2mg of Klonopin in the evening (down from 3mg a day).
***Does 80mgs mean I'm crazier than I think?***
