> Hi, i suffer from CFS/ME for 20yrs now. Sleep has been a big problem for me. I know amitriptyline helps with sleep, pain and depression. I also suffer from these. I am unable to take more than 25mg of amitriptyline without getting severe side effects. I was also on olanzapine(antipsychotic) for insomnia and panic attacks. Things have improved a great deal for me when I started to take 50mg Trimipramine a.m. for anxiety followed by 200mg at night along with 10mg amitriptyline. Trimipramine by it self cant keep me asleep and it doesnt offer the same pain relief as amitriptyline. Since combining these two drugs I have been able to stop the olanzapine. My sleep is allot better and sometimes I get a full 8hrs. I used to sleep for only 2-3 hrs at night. There is a DR David Smith that treats cfs/me and its accompanying problems with a mix of tricyclics up to a total dose of 250mg. I was wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences with combining tricyclics.
