It appears that the AD effects of isoflurane last much longer than ketamine. The problem with isoflurane is that a large dose has to be used for it to work as an antidepressant, so it would have to be administered by an anesthesiologist. Only a small dose of ketamine is required to act as an antidepressant, so any MD should be able to administer it. Still, it looks like isoflurane might be a cheaper and safer and easier and more effective treatment than ECT.
