My psych doc has me on Trileptal which is great for stabilization. Klonopin as needed. And she would rather have me take Lamictal than Geodon for depression.
I went with Geodon & have put on 20 lbs. she suggested going back to a tiny dose of Lamictal for depression or even exploring the ADD meds.
My family doc is not crazy about me taking an AAP (Geodon). He did want me to try phentermine to see if that would help curb the cravings/weight gain and to see if it would also help with motivation & energy.
Phentermine has helped with weight, but done nothing for depression. I realized the difference between Phentermine & Adderall is that Adderall also effects dopamine. Dopamine is bad for me - makes me crazy.
So, if I can't take an SSRI and can't take meds like Wellbutrin or Adderall without heavy doses of mood stabilizers (which cancels out any good they do), what's left?
I guess try a tiny dose of Lamictal with my Trileptal and hope for no irritability and weight gain.
Does anyone use lamictn in small doses for depression?
Stabilization isn't my issue. Major depression has been my issue.
If I go back to my family doc he may say ok to the Lamictal, but he also mentioned "the ADD patch".
Everyone is on the line if I have depression or ADD or both. ADD meds (Adderall) have helped my depression, but made me very irritable and I really think its the dopamine just like Wellbutrin.
