I had a very positive response to moclobemide at first. The only side effect was insomnia... Pretty vicious insomnia actually. Then after about 5 months it pooped out. It seems like my body always compensates in some way for the increased levels of neurotransmitters by downregulating dopamine. Most antidepressants give me pretty serious anhedonia after a while. I can't help but think there is a clue here but I can't quite wrap my head around it. At this point I'm convinced that SSRIs, SNRIs, and MAOIs eventually lead me to the same place. I wish someone would figure out the "poop out" phenomenon. I really think it's a compensatory mechanism involving dopamine and if only there was a way to block that mechanism.
