Doctors have some degree of latitude as to which drugs they choose to treat their patients with. Perhaps your doctor has not had good results with asenapine in the past in the treatment of schizophrenia. Perhaps new information became available that demonstrates limited efficacy or unacceptable adverse effects with asenapine. I have to imagine that they have substantial reasons for why they are denying you this drug.
