I am reluctant to offer an answer to your question because there is great interindividual variability in the way people react to SSRIs. These drugs each do more than simply inhibit the reuptake of serotonin. These additional properties contribute to the different behaviors these drugs demonstrate clinically.

The "strongest" SSRI is paroxetine (Paxil). This is defined as a function of the binding affinity of the drug to the serotonin transporter.

The most "selective" SSRI is escitalopram (Lexapro). This is a misnomer, though. Selectivity has been historically defined as reuptake inhibition relative to other monoamine neurotransmitters. It does not take into account all of the properties of these drugs that have since been discovered.

* Fluvoxamine (Luvox) tends to be sedating.
* Fluoxetine (Prozac) tends to be energizing.
* Paroxetine (Paxil) tends to be anxiolytic, although not always sedating.
