One thing I'm wondering is, in the somewhat unlikely event I get a significant benefit from it then what? Do I just take this antibiotic forever? How long is it okay to take something like that?

I have had a couple of doctors tell me that acne patients take it for quite some time and they seem to do fine. The psychiatrist who suggested told my regular doctor that it is pretty safe on a consistent basis, and this person is one of the top in the country. That doesn't mean something adverse *can't* happen. It means the risk/benefit profile is okay with me for the time being. So I'm going with it for the time being, and if anything bad emerges, I'll act on it promptly.
