I thought this was for the average person. Its related to the side effect of decreased libido. Decreased libido can mean decreased desires and motivation. Some think that serotonin actually has no effect on emotions itself but that it mainly works to modulate the levels of other neurotransmitters such as dopamine. Because when serotonin is increased in the brain dopamine levels increase.
And from my experience adderall, which works mainy by increasing dopamine, it put my emotions into overdrive. I loved it. That is until my brain basically stopped making dopamine because of it, then I was left with anhedonia.
But SSRI's do decrease emotional response for many. Including myself. I was reading reviews from others using it for social anxiety and many of them were talking about the ssri making the thoughts in their head quieter. Prozac did this for me too.
