question on Deep Brain Stimulation

Posted by poser938 on March 22, 2013, at 18:58:26

So, I'm just trying to make some things happen for myself. I had my first appointment at my new psychitrists office today but it was just with the social worker. I have a feeling that when I do see the pdoc it won't be anything too exciting.

So... I've been looking at DBS lately and I'm wondering something about it. Now I know they have been studying its use in different parts of the brain, but when someone does have it done for depression, do they do a brain scan to pinpoint a suppsively dysfunctioning part of the brain and then apply DBS to it? And if this doesn't work do they try it in other areas of the brain?

Anyone familiar with this have any info?
