At your age the most likely negative effect of sustained tachycardia would be that it would contribute to eventual heart failure as you age. How's your BP? If it is on the high side as well get your doc to write for a beta blocker. Atenolol is the most lipophilic of the beta blockers and thus least likely to cause psychiatric side effects.
