Hi Alex,

Sorry, I am replying to all of your posts several days late! Did you make a decision as to which antidepressant to try? I have never taken Maprotiline, and I am wondering if I should perhaps give it a go. But I can tell you that, to me, Prozac was a miracle drug. But then, it was the first antidepressant I had ever taken. However, it did give me energy (but not too much, ie no anxiety), it made me feel happy with peace of mind, made me more confident and all kinds of good things. But that was, of course, before it pooped out on me. :(

I'd really be interested to hear what you try!

> Hi. I really need to go on a proper anti-dep for my severe melancholic dep. I've been becoming a bit too vegetative and mindless. Like some zombie. So difficult to think most of the time. Without gabapentin I'm not sure I'd be even posting this. I currently take ritalin total 5mg a day and valium 2.5mg a day but trying to taper very slowly.

Most success I've had were with paxil and then years later on parnate. Both of which i stopped due to loss of effect. Ritalin and benzos have also helped somewhat.

I was able to speak to people, have a few small interests, some small emotion, was doing a few activities, was able to make some friends. Parnate was a bit similar. I also had some partial response to risperidone in terms of ability to enjoy things slightly, as well as some benefit from wellbutrin, and stablon.

I have been having an intensely difficult time this winter and trying out Licorice root, magnesium cirtrate, resveratrol, l-tyrosine, l-tyrpophan, borage oil etc at various times has only helped me on a very minor level and/or made me worse.
