> Hey Guys,
> I have been in lexapro 10mg for about 3 1/2 months now. Doc had me taking 5mg in the morning and 5mg at night due to pretty bad side effects. Those have subsided and instead of upping my dose, he wants me to take 10mg in the morning. I have done this for about 6 days now and def have increased anxiety. Is my body reacting as if I had a dose increase?Perhaps.
Are you happy with your therapeutic response to Lexapro?
I think the sweet spot for Lexapro is 20 mg/day. A great many people experience anxiety in weeks 2 - 3 of treatment. It may be that your low dosage is not allowing for the anxiety to dissipate so as to be replaced by an antidepressant or anxiolytic effect. Is there any reason why you cannot afford the time to test a 20 mg/day dosage? If your anxiety gets worse or persists for more than a week, you can always discontinue the drug or return to your 5 mg b.i.d. dosing schedule. I cannot say for certain how you will react to a dosage increase. I guess you already know that some people go to 40 mg/day.
