I think that psychiatric symptoms can result from many different physiological conditions, including infection.

Inflammation is associated with some psychiatric syndromes, but I don't think infection is necessary for this to occur. The production of cytokines is not triggered by infection alone. Could you post any material to be found on the Internet that asserts that infection is the predominant cause of mental illness?
