I took tianeptine (Stablon) for 5 years at doses up to 12.5mg six times daily but usually took 4 tablets.
It worked well for my anxiety as an adjunct to benzodiazepines but I wasn't able to truly evaluate how it affected me until I tapered off (over 6 weeks).
I believe it gave me obsessions about gambling. I have never gambled in my life but I couldn't get the thoughts out of my head. It also made me think more about sex despite my libido being low. Is that part of OCD? I'm not sure.
That disappeared shortly after stopping tianeptine. I felt it was habit-forming but the expense was what really gave me the motivation to stop. That, and it didn't work well for my depression over the long term.
alprazolam 1mg QID, famotidine 40mg QID, cetirizine 10mg BID, GNC Ultra Mega Gold BID, probiotics, tobacco smoking 1 pack/day.
Dx: panic disorder with agoraphobia, OCD, MDD, probable PTSD
