"This is my 3rd day and it's been a nightmare since I started this med. I cannot stand up since I got this terrible dizziness which does not go away. Moreover, I have now terrible insomnia and increased anxiety with tremors. I'm not even able to drive."
Its pretty obvious he's reacting very poorly to the drug. I was concerned about the physical side effects he was experiencing.
As far as the drugs I recommended as alternatives to Geodon, I was pulling names out of a hat. I chose Latuda and Abilify based on personal experience. The loss of SNRI benefits would be tragic if the Geodon were stopped but maybe unavoidable because the guy can't stand up because he's so dizzy. I think Abilify is a great alternative despite the 1.4% chance of akathisia, I've been on both Geodon and Abilify and Abilify treated my depressive symptoms better than Geodon. I also recommended Latuda thinking it might confer special benefit as a 5ht7 antagonist.
But, in all honesty, I think Seroquel might be the best choice. A ton of data support it as good treatment for depressive and anxiety synptoms.
