Imipramine can be very activating. You may have been anxious because of the changeover in drugs. If the anxiety is from the Clomipramine it goes away fairly quickly.

Buspirone functions as a serotonin 5-HT1A receptor partial agonist. That could give your nortryptyline a boost.
