I'm wondering how effective the two meds together might be in treating endogenous depression. Would I be getting my hopes to high if I expected the combo could boost (or block reuptake or whatever.) serotonin to an efficacy on the level of clomipramine, or even an SSI? And are there any other non-SSRI, NSRI, etc. compound that can enhance serotonin with minimal SE. Or am I totally misunderstanding the mechanism.

Why should you be any different than so many scientists who also totally misunderstand the mechanism? :-)

I was thinking that combining nortriptyline with Viibryd (vilazodone) would accomplish the sort of mixing of mechanisms that you are looking for with a minimum of SSRI-like side effects. See if you can get some feedback from Phiddipus.

I don't blame you.
