In reply to Nardil upping the dose + effect!, posted by gilmourr on August 29, 2012, at 14:07:59
Gilmourr,
When I took Nardil, I experienced a two-week period of drowsiness and fatigue without any significant antidepressant benefits each time I increased the dose. And once that two-week period ended, I began to notice antidepressant benefits from the medication if I was at a high enough dose to notice anything (which for me was at least 60 mg). For me, the benefits of Nardil didn't gradually build over a period of 6-10 weeks -- it was more as if someone turned on a switch and my energy reached an adequate level once the drowsiness and fatigue subsided -- but others' experiences with the medication may be different.
I think it's a good sign that you were responding reasonably well to Nardil at 45 mg for six weeks before your dose was increased to 60 mg. It seems that a lot of people who've taken Nardil (myself included when it comes to film-coated Nardil) experience an initial effect that is described by some users a strong response and other users as hypomania or euphoria that lasts for about two weeks before it fades, so the fact that you experienced steady benefits for about six weeks at 45 mg to me is a sign that you're experiencing more than just an initial effect from Nardil. Let's hope that your response to Nardil continues and, if anything, builds over time.
If you have any questions about anything that I've written, feel free to let me know. Good luck, and best wishes.
