That's a great thought.
Wild guess:
That Viibryd acts as a 5-HT1a somatodendritic autoreceptor partial agonist might explain things. Autoreceptor agonism would actually reduce serotonin neuron excitability, thereby *reducing* serotonergic flow in certain circuits (as might SRI discontinuation). SRI withdrawal and autoreceptor stimulation may thus feel similar. Because the degree to which a partial agonist operates is variable, I would expect some people to get "brain zaps" and some people not to.
