One advantage to establishing an accurate diagnosis of ADHD is that it would help one to choose psychological and behavioral coping tools designed for that illness. These treatment strategies can be used in addition to medication. There are doctors who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD. If the ADHD drugs do work, it might still be worth pursuing a proper diagnosis.
