In reply to what might my psychiatrist think?, posted by poser938 on June 29, 2012, at 13:10:31
Psychiatrists depending on how many clients they have sometimes don't respond but if they just have a few clients and still not awnser all methods of contact, then ... make another appointment with them, state whats going on...and that you have a request to Lamictal. If declined move to others that specialize in bipolar illness because Lamictal is vary popular with docs with mood stablization for patients. You can even go to a public heath professional, they wouldnt really give you a hard time....its not a substance that has addiction linked to it.
Anyways I'm on Lamictal right now, really its just going to kinda smoothe some things out, its not like xanax or ativan, or even nuerontin...its effects take time to work...kinda like prozac and lithium....it does have antidepressant effects to it around doses like 200-300...but I have read from posts here on babble that anything above 400mg-600mg can cause memory and mental slowing problems so just avoid that situation. Stay at around 200mg maybe and you'll be fine.
Just request it....say you took in the past and it worked great and you had to stop it because of another medication. Just eleborate...make points.
Good luck:)
