As I recall there was a requirement that all doctors have a certain percentage of their prescriptions generated electronically. I understand the claims that this is more efficient and it certainly takes care of the legibility problem. However I pay cash for my prescriptions and I need to be able to shop around from store to store - something I can't do until I have the prescription. Luckily I had no trouble getting paper prescriptions from the last doctor I saw.
