provigil does release dopamine-- it releases a part if the dopamine receptors responsible for wakefullness and feeling stimulated and alert, yet not the part of dopamine responsible for psychosis and euphoria (the two are dopamine 1 and dopamine 2). It fails in ADD trials because they don't prescribe up to what the FDA even lets them prescribe to...
