Becoming a Pharmacy Tech--Phillipa + others

Posted by Phil on May 7, 2012, at 8:58:52

I've been unemployed since 1/11 and have filed for Disability which I think may not be good for me even get it.
I haven't even thought about work since I was laid off due to many reasons.
I used to assistant manage then manage drug stores for a large chain. Trust me, it's a stressful job.

I have been thinking about a pharm tech job. In a slow sore I might make $9 an hour. a fast store maybe $13 although I've read that Cvs is lucky to pay $10 with infrequent raises no matter your experience.

Some pharmacies have 5 people tripping over each other and have endless lines. Not sure I could handle that. Stress - trainwreck.

Hospitals pay the most but you mix chemo and have lunatic nurses yelling I'm first. More stress.

Even though this would be a step down for me it is less stress. Plus I may just work to 62, I'm almost 59.

About 20 years ago, a Walgreens pharmacist misfilled a prescription for a simple prob a mid-20's girl was having. The girl took the pills and is now blind. I would worry about that.

Retail is where I feel at home, I've dome it for most of 30 years. The only customer I can't handle is one with a gun pointed at me.

Any input would ge greatly appreciated as this is the only thing that has given me a spark. Also, maybe something similar, not high pay but a job.

Thanks in advance,

Life is good.
