I've been Rx'd 300 Trileptal (150 AM, 150 PM) for "mood lability." I take 30 Abilify daily. The Abilify has really been a godsend. Sometimes I get in these moods in which I blame the Abilify for my problems (laziness, mild depression), but overall its been great. My thinking is clearer, my agitation is decreased, my mood is out of the pits of psychotic depression (usually...), etc.
Anyway, I guess I'm just wondering what to expect. I have "good insight" overall, especially when it comes to the core problems of my "Bipolar I" (that's my European-trained doc's diagnosis. I imagine many American-trained docs would go for some kind of moody schizo-whatever as the diagnosis). I seek treatment for the severe low mood, fuzzy thinking, and psychosis when it pops up. I have Vistaril on hand for both day- and night-time sedation (so far, I've taken about 3 tabs, just to sleep).
This "mood lability" thing, though...I don't know. And I used to take Trileptal, back in the day. 1200mgs/day, all at night. Made me act, talk, and seem stupid. OK, actually...just made me stupid. Let's say that.
That was years ago. Now, I'm looking at a much lower dose. Do you think it might help my (often significant) anxiety? Agitation? What can I expect from such a low dose? Are lower doses helpful for taking the edge off both the ups and downs of my crazy?
Thanks for any input.
