Is Seroquel a sigma agonist or angatonist?

Posted by Tomatheus on March 31, 2012, at 11:15:55

Hi,

I was reading on one of Dr. Bob's "psychopharmacology tips" pages (http://www.dr-bob.org/tips/split/Quetiapine.html) that Seroquel (quetiapine) has "potent effects" on sigma receptors. What I can't seem to find anywhere is whether Seroquel acts as an agonist or as an antagonist at sigma receptors. Do any of you know the answer to this question, and if you do, could you point me to a source that documents whether Seroquel is a sigma agonist or sigma antatonist?

Thanks,
Tomatheus
