Hi Malou - Welcome
>
> Yup to amnesia. Been on Lamotrigine for 10yrs or so for seizures. I kept havin' 'em anyway so they just upped the dosage over and over. What kind of seizures do you have?
Do you see a neurologist for treatment?
Has the Lamictal provided relief at all?
> Memory got worse and worse. I noticed a big difference with the last increase. Suddenly I'm droppin' stuff, running into walls not to mention way worse amnesia. I was just gonna quit.
It's hard to know whether these symptoms are due to the seizures, or the Lamictal.>
> I was switched (gonna be gradual) to Levetiracetam. I think they donno what they're doing. Any ideas about it?Did they tell you why they are switching to Keppra?

> One seizure was so bad I woke up with NO memory at all. Total erasure. Couldn't walk, never heard a bird tweet, wide-eyed and wondering what conciousness was. 2nd day I walked out to the huge blue thing outside. When I opened its door-I was amazed--->all those knobs, dials and pedals!!! WOW!! had no idea what it was(my LandCruiser) I went back inside. I was even a poet for a coupla daze till I remembered I wasn't a poet!Sleepygirl is right - your description sounds very much like Jamais vu. Associated with a partial seizure, it wouldn't typically last for two days... unless you are in non-convulsive status epilepticus. Complex partial seizures can include post-ictal confusion.
Hopefully the Keppra will provide you relief. You should be under the care of a neurologist who will do EEG's (hopefully a 24-hr ambulatory) to evaluate the effectiveness of Keppra in controlling your seizures.
