Listen, I don't know much about your situation, so take what I have to say with a grain of salt: I have seen a few pdocs in my day and all in all, I see more knowledge on this forum. It isn't totally their fault; neuroscience is in its infancy and nobody knows truly what causes depression, bipolar disorder, and other things. All they do is make educated guesses. But if you truly know in your bones that a med is having a certain effect on you, I'd say go with your gut. Don't worry so much about them believing you. You can work with a pdoc and have a relationship of "collegial skepticism" (what I call it) for each other's opinions. At the end of the day it's up to you to take what you think is best. They are there to offer what they know, but in the end, nobody really knows yet.
