This is a spinoff of the "Generic Lexapro" thread. I've done something that I may regret. I purchased generic Lexapro from a pharmacy website without a prescription. I looked up site suggestions from Yahoo Answers, and went with this one: [xxx]. I really want to go back to taking Lexapro, but generics are unavailable in the U.S. until Forest's patent runs out (is supposed to be early this year). Now, I've read that Forest is spiking Lexapro prices to get $ while they can.
I've read in the past on a different depression forum people commenting that they've had a lot of success with sites like this, but I was unable to get recs from them b/c we couldn't post links. I just wondered if anyone here has used the above site or know anything about doing this? My biggest fear is that it's a scam so I'm going to keep a close eye on my credit card statements. This site is a European site but the drugs appear to come from the South Pacific so I have some fears about safety standards now. Though, I have a friend in India, and I trust their's. That is where I heard most of these drugs come from. I've even thought about having my friend getting Lexapro himself and sending it to me, but I don't want to get him in trouble.
I guess I'm just that desperate. I don't want to throw money away on trying a new drug. This is the drug I know I want. At least I didn't spend much money on this venture. My doctor's office called me yesterday and said they'd be willing to prescribe Lexapro for me. I'm going to call them back Monday and tell them what I've done. I saw that Forest has a patient assistance program for Lexapro, and it doesn't sound difficult to do, but there are risks with that, too. I don't know how long it will take, and if I'll be approved. I have to bring the form into my doctor's office and have them fill it out. I'm already dealing with a similar thing to get a lab bill paid for, and it's been like pulling teeth to get everything together, get my employer to write a letter - then, I find out it's not enough info, etc. It's at least something I can mention to my doctor's office.
Maybe my doctor's office will come up with something since I did this and now starting to regret it. Has anyone had success with buying drugs overseas?
