Zoloft is the only SSRI I took, and it was very numbing for me. At the time, it was a relief because it gave me reprieve from the catastrophic pain depression brought on.. but ultimately I came to the conclusion that I would have to work through the pain, because feeling 'nothing' was worse than pain. So, I stopped the zoloft but kept the wellbutrin, and supplemented with very low-dose lorazepam when things were most intense. And lots, and lots of therapy. It's been nine years since I fell in the black hole, and three years ago it started getting better (very gradually). During the last year I have reached a comfortable place of stability and emotional strength and resilience - and feel I can now 'handle' life. I'm not who I was before.. so part of my work now is embracing my 'new normal.' I still take the Wellbutrin, and still have lorazepam on hand but rarely take it. If I fail to take Wellbutrin for one day, I don't notice. But if I miss it for two days in a row, I start slipping down that hole.
