Well, it is too early in the game to make any judgements at this point.
Here's the way I see it.
If a med begins to work fast, that is usually a good sign it is hitting the right circuits for that particular patient, and it can be used to predict a more favorable outcome. On the other hand, a med that works slowly or not at all is giving clues that it is probably not hitting the right circuits for that particular patient. It doesn't mean that med won't work, but I do believe it means the med has less of a chance of working, and that if it is to work it is going to take longer than expected.
Keep in mind most clinical trials run at least 6 weeks. Some patients don't show any improvement until toward the end. If that is true, then your 4 weeks maybe wasn't enough to make a fair judgement.
I also know from experience that these meds...when they work....continue to improve things over months....3 months is better than 6 weeks, 9 months feels even better than 6 months did....the changes are so slow and subtle you don't notice them day to day, but after months you look back and realize how far you've come. So basically what I am saying is, 4 weeks on prozac without any results is not an encouraging sign, and yet is not a throw-in-the-towel scenario either.
