The FDA maintains a listing of all approved medications, called the Orange Book. It has a searchable list. Link: http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cder/ob/default.cfm
If you search on lithium carbonate, you'll discover that there are three generics of extended release lithium carbonate. Unless you know which one you tried, and didn't tolerate, I don't know how to sort it out for you.
The Glenmark version was most recently licensed, and their website makes explicit comparison to Lithobid. Maybe this is the one you heard about?
