> Thanks for sharing this article. This was my experience. I've had major depression during and after all three of my pregnancies. During my 2nd pregnancy, I was put on Zoloft, which very literally saved my life probably more than once. Unfortunately, I now suspect that these depressions combined with the AD's I've been on for the last 5 years have contributed to rapid cycling. I'm seeing my pdoc this week to discuss a possible Dx of bipolar II...we shall see.
I wonder if this is what's going on with me?!? I have major depression and general anxiety and have been treating them with AD's for a decade. 12 weeks postpartum I went into the darkest depression and craziest mood swings of my life (still dealing with them 10 months later). It's like I'm a totally different person at times. I assumed my meds pooped out or my hormones changed something. I've spent the past 4 months trying to find meds that will help but nothing seems to be working (currently on second MAOI). It's been awful. Maybe my illness changed and therefore the medication needs to change as well??
I've never had a severe manic episode so I never thought I may be bipolar. The symptoms of bipolar II describe almost exactly what I've been experiencing.
I don't quite understand rapid cycling. I've read the definitions but can someone explain in layman's terms?
What type of meds are prescribed for bipolar II?
