HI,
I am taking tianeptine(Coaxil) for 10 days now and I read in package instructions that drinking alcohol is not allowed while taking tianeptine... Now, I know that occasional drink in social surroundings is almost inevitable. I already know how my organism tolerates alcohol while taking AD or other medication (recently Wellbutrin)and I usually dont have problems with it.I think that alcohol is not adwised while taking tianeptine mainly because it inhibits its absorption, since tianeptine shouldnt have depressant effect (for alcohol to make synergetic effect) .
I drank on the 2nd day of tianeptine use without problems, I was maybe even a bit more alert then I would be without tianeptine.
So, I am concerned about alcohol effect on tianeptine efficiency. If it inhibits absorption of tianeptine, would it still interfere with it if I start drinking 2 hours or so after evening dose? I guess the pill should be dissolved and absorbed by then? Does that "diminshed absorption" happens in the stomach or alcohol can diminish tianeptine effectiveness anyway?I have to wait for 20 days to ask my doctor about it, so I would appreciate some advice.
Thnx in advance
