You can always stop with a proper taper, and it can be fairly painless if done according to the Ashton method. However, it is not always easy to find a doctor willing to do that.
Honestly, I guess they work for a lot of people, but frankly I think the SSRIs are worthless--unless what you _want_ is emotional blunting, in which case they certainly work.
What are the drugs that you are taking for?
