I was googling and came across this post. I think it's time for me to come back to the board. How are you guys?
One could theoretically have these drugs compounded together, but really there is no rationale for doing so--except the obvious one.
I had to stop taking Nardil due to 50%+ weight gain. To make a long story short, I am now on 4mg/day clonazepam and 60mg/day d-amphetamine. I'm now seeing the psychopharmacologist that I used to see after not being able to see him for a long time. I tried to go med-free for a while, but the agoraphobia and anxiety became too much to bear.
It took a long time to finally get into see him, and in the interim I was just going to a GP who was writing the clonazepam. Now that I'm back with my preferred doctor, he wants me off of the clonazepam eventually; I tend to agree. I turned to it as a band-aid for the social phobia and anxiety, but frankly Nardil monotherapy was better than the clonazepam alone.
I expressed a desire to start Marplan (I just can't deal with the phenelzine weight gain), and he said that he isn't ruling it out but he wanted me to try Viibryd first. Well, I looked it up when I got home and it basically seemed to be roughly (but not exactly) equivalent to taking an SSRI + buspar. SSRIs make me _more anxious_ and exacerbate my "inattentive ADD" (I really don't like using these terms, but it's a convenience we must live with.)
I tried to get to 20mg, and on day 8 I had to stop it. I had GI upset, felt emotionally flat and a vague malaise. I don't know how people tolerate that stuff; I literally could not bring myself to take another 20mg tablet. It felt like I was poisoning myself, something which I've only experienced from Depakote (which apparently I'm allergic to).
The best of these combinations was probably Desbutal. I'm curious to if there is even _one_ individual in this country who is prescribed Desoxyn and Nembutal.
I really hope he goes for Marplan + Dexedrine and a slow benzo taper.
One underutilized combination is clonazepam + galantamine + stimulant. Read up.
Sorry, brain fogged out now.
But I guess I'm back. ;-)
