I completely understand your frustration; it is a catch 22. The problem with using possible weight gain as a decision maker, is that everyone reacts differently to drugs. Common side effects for Effexor are weight loss and insomnia, yet I gained 50lbs the first year & a half on Effexor and have never slept better. Unless you've been on that drug before you'll never really know how it will effect you. Also, in my experience, side effects typically change or may subside after a few months. Is there a particular drug you have in mind?
